Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR)
The Global Cross Border Privacy Rules System (Global CBPR) is an internationally recognized data privacy certification system available to U.S. organizations and their global subsidiaries. As an approved Accountability Agent, BBB National Programs works one-on-one with your business to demonstrate compliance with established data privacy standards.
Trusted Privacy Seals
The Global CBPR certification is for U.S based data controllers. Its counterpart is the Global Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) certification, which focuses on requirements for data processors.
The Vendor Privacy Program (VPP) is BBB National Programs’ independently operated certification for non-U.S. based processors.

- Self-verifying seals appear on the privacy policies of every certified business, linking to a web page that explains the scope of the business’s privacy commitments and allows consumers to submit data privacy complaints.

Guidelines & Procedures
Participating businesses make a public commitment that their data protection policies and practices will meet the privacy standards specified in the Program Requirements.
File a Complaint
As a consumer, if you have a privacy complaint about a participating business, you may submit it to our program. Our process is free of charge for individual consumers. Where necessary, consumers may also direct their questions and complaints to the relevant Privacy Enforcement Authority in the United States, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
